Giving is an act of worship and a grateful response to God's grace in Christ. All that we have belongs to the Lord, and He calls us to steward His gifts faithfully, generously, and cheerfully for the advancement of the gospel, the care of His church, and the needs of others. We do not give to earn God's favor, but because we have already received His abundant mercy in Jesus Christ.
So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
